How to use Wikipedia during the blackout
As you probably know, Wikipedia is blacked out to protest SOPA.
But the blackout is incomplete. There’s a backdoor.
First bookmark this Wikipedia-specific Google search page.
Now, type your query into the page, leaving a space between your query and the text already there. Click the result as you normally would.
OK, so now the page loads and you get the blackout message. Here’s where the trick comes in. Let’s say you looked up coffee. The normal url would be “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee.” You need to visit the mobile version at “http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee.” Just jam the “m.” in the url and you’re set to go.
The search on Wikipedia mobile still blacks out, so you’ll need to do this with every search. But if you need Wikipedia, you need Wikipedia. It’s a little more time consuming, but it works.
